—Nami Mura.

Nanami Mura (better known as Nami Mura, born March 13, 1994 in Motegi, Honshu, Japan) is a Japanese race car driver currently competing in the ARLA Elite Series for 2-time driver's champion Kurt Walker. Mura is known for her prowess on road courses despite her young age.

Career[edit | edit source]

Mura was groomed for racing from the age of four by her father Tamotsu (a successful Pacific Racing Championship driver himself), alongside her neighbor Seiju Dejao. After spending five years in karts, Mura moved up to the PRC Junior Formula cars, half-size open wheel cars designed for children 8-14. Mura was a formidable competitor in this series, and then she caught a glimpse of stock car racing and wanted to try it out.

Mura, now 14, jumped straight into the ARLA Elite Series because it was the only stock car tour that accepted such young drivers. Her significant financial backing was accepted by the now-defunct Rosebud Racing, and her previous years of experience paid off with a victory during her rookie campaign at the Clairmont Circuit in Canada.

Mura's performance was good enough to land her a ride with Kurt Walker Motorsports after Rosebud Racing folded in 2010. However, Mura has not had a victory with Walker aside from the 2010 Buffalo 125, in which she was handed the victory after Benji Flynn failed post-race inspection.

In 2012, Seiju Dejao joined Mura at Walker, and they will share the #39 car in 2013.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Mura was created by Ceej's sister, who unfortunately has no real interest in racing.
