The Master Cup Manufacturers' Association (MCMA) is an association of the major manufacturers that fielded entries in the 2012 TM Master Cup season.

Formation[edit | edit source]

Prior to the 2012 Karjala Grand Prix, the MCMA made an appeal to the stewards with the aim of securing provisional spots on the grid for the highest 12 cars in the points standings with street equivalents. The participants in the MCMA were not immediately revealed, but it was believed that the teams involved were:

It was believed that James Dalton Racing was also involved with the MCMA, since the Dalton Blackbirds the team fields strongly resemble the Bolden Kiowa.

Of the other teams not listed above, only three, Hodges-Walter Racing, Gessler Richter MC Team, and Volpi Racing Team, went on record denying involvement in the Association. Interestingly, none of the three teams field cars with street equivalents.

Provisional positions have not been given for the Karjala Grand Prix since 2010.

Michigan boycott[edit | edit source]

Its request for provisionals at Karjala rebuffed, the MCMA turned its attention to the Round of Indianapolis. Prior to the Round of Wales, it reiterated its request for provisional spots for its affiliated teams, this time, requesting 15 spots instead of the 10 it wanted for Karjala. And, unlike Karjala, the request came with a threat: it would boycott the 2012 Round of Michigan if its request was denied.
