Championship Overview

The 2018 WCR Challenge Series presented by MasterSpark season is the 4th season of competition for the World Challenge Cup. Due to escalating costs, World Challenge Cup officials have entered 2018 with a new vision for the direction of the series. For 2018 and beyond, teams will be limited to two cars per entry, and the series will take on an exclusive role as a feeder series to the upper echelons of racing. The series, which held 2017 races in America, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Italy, Sweden, Russia, and Dubai, will exclusively hold races in the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada for the new season due to the exorbitant travel and logistical costs associated with hosting headliner events over the globe without much support from sponsors. The race weekend format will also change, with a traditional qualifying and race, rather than the double-header weekends that existed in 2017.

All teams are obligated to run the Omecha MA02, a car with many different setup options that allows for some freedom for the teams.
