Championship Overview |
The 2018 NSCC Overdrive Championship Series powered by ClarTech season is the fifth season of Formula Overdrive, the first since 2014 and the first under the National Sports Car Club sanctioning.
This season features 10 weekends, with the biggest surprise in the schedule being the return of the series to the Texas Motor Speedway, holding the championship finale, being held in the 6-year anniversary of the ill-fated Hanmore World Championships of 2012, and is also expected to feature an abnormal number of one-off drivers.
The bodies used by the series will be supplied by Cromwell Raceworks, with all engines being made by ClarTech Engineering and badged as Tremwells, effectively turning the series into a spec formula series, seeking to lower racing costs.
The cars will be powered by 3-liter (214 cubic inches) dual-overhead cam V8 engines. The weight (including driver and driver gear) for all cars is 1,500 pounds. Fuel cell capacity is 25 U.S. gallons.
Calendar[edit | edit source]
All but one event will take place in the United States, most being companion to the premier National Sports Car Club tour, the Hanmore AmeriCar Championship Road Racing Series.
Road Course events will feature double races with the timed length of 25 minutes, while ovals will feature a single race of varying length. .
