Track lore[edit | edit source]

TM Master Cup: The "Texas Strike"[edit | edit source]

Main article: 2009 Texas strike

The track was the site of one of the most controversial races in TM Master Cup history, the 2009 Round of Texas. In that race, Saar and Lenard, appeared to have a significant tire-wear advantage over the rest of the field. As the green flag flew, the teams competing with other manufacturers all parked, leaving Saar and Lenard as the only two manufacturers in the race.

ASCC[edit | edit source]

Texas World was the home of the most prestigious race in the American Stock Car Championship, the Texas 500, through 1979. The revival of the ASCC began with the 2010 Texas 500, which was controversial as well with many crashes within the first 35 laps. Despite criticism by drivers and owners, the race was a financial success; however, the Texas 500 moved to the Texas Motor Speedway in 2012. Texas World later returned to the ASCC calendar, and will host the 500 for the first time in ten years in 2021.

FARC[edit | edit source]

The ARLA Elite Series last visited the track in 2008. Following the formation of the Federated Auto Racing Championships, the Elite Series made a renewed presence in Texas, the home state of ARLA founder Henry Walker, with Texas World hosting the season opener in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and the season finale in 2016.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
