The Aurora Speedrome is an American race track located in Aurora, Illinois. It hosted the 2008 Neon Hardware 100 for the Smash Beer Elite Stocks (now FARC Lowe Dollar Series). This race was one of the handful of races using the regular stock car bodies, as opposed to the GT style the series ran throughout the year.

Configuration[edit | edit source]

The Aurora Speedrome is 1.275 miles in length. The turns are approximately 2,000 feet long and banked at 24 degrees. The frontstretch (1415 feet) and the backstretch (1320 feet) are banked at five degrees. The frontstretch has a slight quad-oval shape similar to the Texas Motor Speedway, but is far less noticeable. The pit lane starts in turn three and ends in turn one, and on the frontstretch, mimics the track surfaces' quad-oval configuration.

The 2008 Neon Hardware 100[edit | edit source]

The 2008 Neon Hardware 100 was a full coverage race which was commentated by Scott Bush and Earl McDermott. The pole was won by Dale Underwood in his No. 03 Inglesby with Paul Allison (making his first start since the 2006 Smash Beer 100) started on his outside. Robert Truex would take the lead with three laps to go, and cruised to the win. Tristen Roberts came home second with Michael White in third. Jason Bates held the lead with three to go, but wound up finishing fourth. Matt Scarano finished fifth. Todd Stater, on debut, finished 6th.

Present day[edit | edit source]

There have been no major races at the track since. Its fate as a racing circuit is unknown.
