TM Master Cup Series Driver

Mathias Karl Taube (born August 23, 1986 in Gothenburg, Sweden) is a race car driver, best known for his meteoric rise in the TM Master Cup Series after winning the pole for the 2009 Karjala Grand Prix. Taube was tipped to be a Formula A star, but he opted for a career in touring cars after he joined German Supercars for a few fruitless seasons.

Taube and 8 of his friends bought two year old TM Master Cup Inglesbys with the intention of running them at the Karjala Grand Prix. He stormed his way into the field with relative ease and put his car on the pole, also with relative ease. However, race day was not quite as easy for Taube as he dropped through the field before the first round of pit stops. Despite this, his performances attracted attention, and he was picked up by Camelot Racing to replace Kurt Walker later in the year.

2010[edit | edit source]

Taube's 2010 was due to start in TM Lights for BlackDiamond Racing for him to gain experience on oval tracks, however he was drafted into Ocean Motorsports early into the year to replace Stan Rosenstreter. Taube was the controversial winner of the 2010 Karjala Grand Prix after Alexis Rainsford was penalized three laps.

2012[edit | edit source]

For 2012, Taube will pair up with Arto Kekkonen to drive for Carl Richter in car #10. He continued his reputation for being fast but crash-prone after an incident filled start to the season. Taube bounced back with a strong win in his home race after nearly being taken out by Charlie Waters and Rene Recamier towards the end of the race.
